Community-Based Mentoring Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui offers two different Community-Based Mentoring Programs including:

Community-Based Mentoring Program: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui carefully matches children, ages 6-15, with adult mentors to build a strong and enduring mentoring relationship through spending quality time together participating in various activities throughout the community. 



Mentoring Programs Make a Difference.....   
National research found that after 18 months of spending time with their BIGS, the LITTLES are:

  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip school
  • 37% less likely to skip a class
  • more confident of their performance in schoolwork
  • one-third less likely to hit someone
  • getting along better with their families
